Appeals and SIR's
In your experience at Sault College there may come a time when you feel the
need to appeal an academic decision. All students have the right to appeal
a final grade, academic policy or process. Appeals must be submitted no
later that three (3) business days after the end of the term or training
period in which the course being appealed was taken.
SIR's (Student Initiated Reviews) are a process by which students can have a
formal assessment done on how their course is being administered. This
process must be done within the first 3/4 of the semester in question. The
student first must try to resolve the situation with their
instructor/professor in an informal discussion prior to an SIR being
initiated. IF THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN THE STUDENT CANNOT
COMMENCE THE SIR. If the informal discussion is unsuccessful
students may then pick up the official form from the General Manager to
initiate the SIR.
The General Manager is responsible for handling the administration of
academic appeals. If you have any questions regarding the appeal process
feel free to stop by the SAC offices and someone will be glad to assist you.
